The Project Superintendent’s responsibility is to supervise the field construction of a project and to complete the Work on schedule, within the budget, and to the quality of workmanship specified. In the performance of this function, it is the Project Superintendent’s responsibility to protect and promote PGC GENERAL CONTRACTOR’S interests in all matters and to do whatever is reasonably necessary to discharge his duties and responsibilities which include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• To provide leadership and establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with the on-site staff and promote positive project morale (including the management, hiring, and firing of various crews and crew members).
• To have a thorough and complete knowledge and understanding of the General Contract, each Subcontract, the contract drawings, specifications, and addenda, and to assist the Project Manager in the development of the on-site procedures.
• To examine the contract drawings, specifications, and addenda for design deficiencies, impractical details, and possible code violations, and to bring these to the attention of the Project Manager who will review them with the Owner.
• To assist the Project Manager and the General Manager in the development and refinement of the Project Schedule, and to work with the Project Manager to keep the schedules properly updated, and to see that the job meets the various required dates.
• To plan and review the Scope with the Project Manager including quality control procedures, safety and security practices, temporary utilities, staging areas, equipment, and manpower.
• To coordinate, direct, monitor, and with the FOREMAN, inspect the activities of the Subcontractors, Suppliers, and PGC’s labor and material.
• To see that all required permits or licenses have been obtained.
• To cooperate with, and direct when necessary, the activities of the inspection agencies, and to effect remedial actions indicated by the reports of these agencies.
• To manage, document, and maintain the rentals for each job within the specified project budget.
• To document, record, and report the percentage of work completed within each month for each project for the Project Manager and Project Administrator.
• To record and report all RFI’s, Changes of Scopes, Etc. for each project for the Project Manager.
• To receive, review and approve the FOREMANS’ Daily Reports of work done; including labor, production, and material employed in HCSS.
• To review and approve, on a weekly basis, all as-built prints.
• To maintain good relations and communications with all involved in the project including the public.
• This is a full-time exempt status job.
ACCOUNTS:
• Review all INVOICES to ensure shipments are complete, accurate, and within budget.
• Save slips for the project manager.
• Work with the PM and PA to bill each job on schedule.
SAFETY Responsibilities:
• Ensure that the site crew is following the safety program, including the holding of weekly safety meetings.
• Refer and adhere to the PGC Safety Manual for further instruction and OSHA regulations.
• Work with the Safety Manager on all aspects of project safety.

REQUIREMENTS:
• An up-to-date CPR/AED certificate.
• 30-hour OSHA training (minimum).
• Minimum 5 years experience in underground utilities/facilities work.
• A valid driver's License.
• Minimum 3 years of foreman experience in the underground utility business (read and interpret blueprints, plans, and redlines, shoot grade, and run equipment).
• Excellent organization and communication skills.
• Computer and software skills (Bluebeam, Word, HCSS, Excel, Outlook).
